Legionella detected in Watkins Glen Hotel

Legionella in pools and spa

According to the New York state Department of Health, in July,  at the Watkins Glen Hotel pools and spa, Legionella was detected. Two guests were exposed to that bacteria

Guests at the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel between July 16 and Aug. 1 and were near the pool and spa may have been exposed to Legionella bacteria.

People who are more sensible to legionella contamination are old people, whose wih an immune systems, smokers, children.

The initial symptoms of Legionnaires’ disease, resemble those of the common flu and appear progressively over two or three days. Other symptoms include :

  • Digestive problems (diarrhea, nausea, vomiting),
  • Neurologicals problems (confusion, disorientation, hallucinations, even coma).
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Cough
  • High fever
